Giulia Leonardi

Giulia Leonardi is an Italian volleyball player, who plays at Libero for the Italian team Il Bisonte Firenze and the Italian national team. She is the Women’s Champions League silver medalist and twice bronze medalist, as well as three times gold medalist at the Women’s CEV Cup.

Giulia Leonardi was born on December 1, 1987, in Florence, Italy. She started in volleyball at an early age and proved her talent.

Giulia Leonardi started her volleyball career in 2003, in the team of her city, the Pallavolo Cesena, in Serie D. SHe remained in the club for two seasons gaining experience and skills.

In 2005, Giulia Leonardi signed with Sant’Egidio to play in Serie C and then returned the following season back to Pallavolo Cesena.

In the 2007/2008 season, Giulia Leonardi signed with Infotel Banca Di Forlì in Serie A1, debuting in the Italian top league, albeit as a reserve. In the 2007/2008 season, she plays for Solo Affitti Tradeco Cesena, still as a reserve, with which she conquers salvation. At the beginning of the 2009/2010 season, however, the team did not register for the championship, giving the title to Robur Tiboni Urbino Volley and consequently Giulia Leonardi played for the Marche team, this time as a starter. In the 2010/2011 season, she won her first trophy, namely the CEV Cup. At the end of the championship, she gets her first call-ups to the national team, with which she competes in the European championship.

In the 2011/2012 season, Giulia Leonardi signed with Unendo Yamamay Busto Arsizio, a club with which she remained for three years, winning the Italian Cup, the CEV Cup, and the Scudetto, while in the following year, she won the Italian Super Cup.

For the 2015/2016 championship, Giulia Leonardi signed to Liu Jo Nordmeccanica Modena, where she remained for three years, and then returned to Unet E-Work Busto Arsizio club in the 2018/2019 season, renamed UYBA, still in Serie A1, with which she won the 2018 CEV Cup.

At the end of the 2020-21 championship, Giulia Leonardi announces gave a break of volleyball amid her pregnancy and giving birth to her first child. She returned to the field for the 2023/2024 season to play for Il Bisonte Firenze in Serie A1.
